Ever wonder how medical scientists can get something so totally backwards.

A new case study shows that one week after starting on cinnamon supplements a 73-year-old woman developed hepatitis. She was on a high-dose of a statin drug. [American Journal of Case Reports 4/15]

It is reported that Daniel Brancheau, M.D., of Providence Hospital and Medical Center in Southfield, Michigan, made the statement: "There were no other medications the patient was taking that could cause the extent of liver damage, except the cinnamon supplements."

The woman’s doctors said that cinnamon combined with her high dose of statins induced her hepatitis. Researchers noted that coumarin, found in Cassia and Saigon cinnamon can harm the liver. This appears to be the first report of a person experiencing a toxic effect from cinnamon supplements and statins.

New findings give an optimistic view of how the brain changes as we age. Certain mental and mobile skills can be improved for many years beyond what was thought possible. Older brains bring treasured moments from the past and reverberate them into the ever present future.

Wisdom is gained over the years as the brain is stimulated and fed new thoughts that literally grow new synapsis. Congruently and collaboratively the synapsis take flight like a flock of birds.

Experience teaches older brains to filter out irrelevant or undesired information. Seniors have more overall knowledge. Significant  exercise of this knowledge helps keep the brain younger. Research shows that the brain has no peak year of overall performance. Learning continues to dramatically increase when you put your mind to it.

Rona Ambrose, Canada’s Minister of Health, announced in February 2015 their plans for New Glycomics Research Network to Prevent and Treat Diseases. The Edmonton-based network is receiving $27.3 million over five years to develop new drugs and vaccines to treat influenza, genetic diseases and diabetes.

Glycomics, the study of the structure and function of carbohydrates (sugars) in biological systems, promises to deliver far-reaching solutions to human health problems such as influenza, genetic diseases and diabetes. Collaborating universities include the University of Alberta, Simon Fraser University, University of Toronto. One objective is to develop tools to study N-glycoylation functions in stem cell development.

Many influences to fold proteins are hidden from view. Tomorrow’s doctors will observe and be able to show to their patients these unseen influences, determine their origins and intercept their consequences.

How can the same drug or nutrient have different effects on the human body? How can the same wave-particle properties produce drastically different outcomes?

Some 800,000 unique gnarly treelike sugar structures coat healthy cells. These glycan and glycoprotein antennas are the epitomes of entanglement. Every fold and angle of the fold is caused by endless numbers of unseen influences. The folds equip each antenna with its communicating abilities to operate with clear fidelity or static of hisses and squeals. How proteins are folded determine the quality of communication and  neurological health.

An insulin study in Japan with rabbits compared two disaccharides, Trehalose vs. Maltose. Both sugars are two glucose molecules bonded together but at different angles. The unique angle of the Trehalose bond provides major functionality not found in any other sugar.

Activity of the enzyme trehalase that transports and metabolizes Trehalose to glucose was measured in the serum and kidney of rabbits. Both glucose and insulin were increased by the Trehalose infusion. Maltose infusion resulted in elevated serum glucose while NO increase of insulin was detected. Scientists concluded that Trehalose infused rabbits resulted in a positive nitrogen balance suggesting that Trehalose is used as an energy source and has the potential for parenteral nutrition (intravenous feeding).
