Radiations From Needless Medical Tests Are Causing Cancer - Smart Sugars Lesson #56 E-mail

by J.C. Spencer

Cancer does not just happen! Cause and effect have produced a blurry picture but it is coming into sharper focus. Needless high radiation medical testing is harming patients. Toxic testing is on the rise and with it, the rise in cancer risk, so says expert, Dr. Eric Topol, chief academic officer of the Scripps Health system.

Dr. Topol says that the field of cardiology leads the offender list with 45 unnecessary tests and procedures that could harm patients. The American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation released the information compiled by nine professional organizations. The largest cancer causing culprits are X-rays, imaging, and CAT scans. Again, as with drugs and many health harming factors, the US is #1 in the world for using these tests.

Author of a new book, “The Creative Destruction of Medicine,” Dr, Topol discusses how medical test radiation harms the patients.

Drug Side Effects Create Diabetics and Cause Brain Failure - Smart Sugars Lesson #55 E-mail

25% of all Americans over age 45 are taking these drugs.

by JC Spencer

We have been hoodwinked by a marketing campaign that sells $20 Billion of cholesterol lowering drugs per year. According to some experts, these drugs do more damage than benefit. Remember when 250 total cholesterol was considered high? Then 240 was considered high. Today, we are told that 200 is high.

Researchers have concluded that over 64,000 new-onset diabetics are caused each year by statin drugs! In a study where more than 32,000 people were evaluated, scientists determined that higher dosages resulted in greater diabetes risk and other side effects.

A Smart Sugar Protects Brain Cells From Inflammation E-mail

Historic discovery for protecting and improving brain functions - Smart Sugars Lesson #54

by JC Spencer

This historic discovery may change the way doctors deal with the brain. New evidence published April 30, 2012 indicates that the sugar Trehalose suppresses cerebral inflammation which normally results in high mortality.

Protecting and improving brain cells should be top priority in the future of medicine and healthcare. When we improve brain function, we address over 600 diseases directly and all other human illnesses indirectly. The better the brain functions, the more effective are the motor and mental skills.

Trehalose can protect the brain! More specifically, it protects the arachnoid mater which is the protective membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord. This protection extends to the subarachnoid cavity of the central nervous system following cerebral vasospasm. New findings indicate that the sugar Trehalose prevents oxidative degradation of the lipids caused by free radical electrons in the cell membranes.

Humor and Smart Sugars - Medicine of the Future - Smart Sugars Lesson #53 E-mail

by JC Spencer

Laughter is a social lubricant that bonds people together and helps overcome stress. Humor is serious business and has remarkable neurological benefits.

When Saturday Review editor, Norman Cousins’ serious inflammatory disease worsened, he locked himself in a hotel room, took vitamin C, and watched Marx Brother’s films and episodes of Candid Camera. He reported that ten minutes of belly laughs calmed the pain for two hours. Within a few weeks, he was in remission.

Robert Provine’s book, Laughter: A Scientific Investigation puts on paper his 30 years of fieldwork (but his wife doesn’t appreciate his humor).

Neurological/emotional entanglement for spontaneous laughter is a phenomenon. Provine’s pursuit was to analyze the frequency, amplitude, and length of each sample in his recorded bag of laughs. He learned that babies laugh 300 times a day while adults only laugh 20 times and outbreaks of laughter peak at age 5. He studied laugh patterns that revealed genetic linkage.

Diabetic Detective Meets the Killer - Smart Sugar Lesson #52 E-mail

by JC Spencer

The worldwide epidemic of diabetes is accelerating 3-5% per year. Immune systems are weakening at this same trend. Unless action is taken, soon the average human will be diabetic with the immune system of a full-blown AIDs patient. These are wincing facts!

An estimated 90% of some 350 million diabetics on the planet are Type 2. Today, we (that’s US) have more than 25,800,000 diabetics (more than 8% of the population). This number has escalated from about 7,740,000 diabetics in 1994 (about 3% of the US population).

Type 1 diabetes is coming after younger juveniles faster and Type 2 is coming after older humans sooner. Diabetes will take down millions of people who do not resist the onslaught.

A poor glucose metabolism is the cause for diabetes. Doing nothing about it makes you an accomplice.

Should Sugar be controlled to protect public health? - Smart Sugars Lesson #51 E-mail
Should Sugar be controlled to protect public health?

by JC Spencer

“Sugar’s [table sugar] potential for abuse, coupled with its toxicity and pervasiveness in the Western diet make it a primary culprit of this worldwide health crisis.” So says a Report from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), published in the Feb 2, 2012 issue of Nature, that document the dangers of table sugar.

The Report argues that sugar is far more serious than just "empty calories" that make people fat. Table sugar changes metabolism, raises blood pressure, critically alters the signaling of hormones and causes significant damage to the liver. In fact, sugar health hazards are closely related to the effects cause by alcohol, which is the distillation of sugar.

The report continues to outline that table sugar is fueling a global obesity pandemic, contributing to 35 million deaths annually worldwide from non-communicable diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

New Immune Therapy Purges Leukemia - System Works where Chemotherapy Fails - Smart Sugars Lesson #50 E-mail

Download this Smart Sugar Lesson

by JC Spencer

Leukemia has been driven into remission in two out of three patients with immune therapy. So reports oncologist Austin Porter at the University of Pennsylvania in The New England Journal of Medicine. Porter said, “What we couldn’t do with chemotherapy, we were able to do in four weeks with immune therapy.”

Leukemia is the destroyer of white blood cells. Low levels of electrolytes diminish the immune system and reduce the body’s energy and ability to fight for life.

This immune therapy trial opens the door for new therapies for leukemia and potentially for millions who are suffering from other cancers.

Our Biological Clocks Operate on Smart Sugars - Smart Sugar Lesson #49 E-mail

by JC Spencer

Trillions of clocks are ticking in your cells to control quantum processes that determine your future. Your brain and every cell in your body operate constantly on synchronized and random biorhythms.

When TIME is right, it takes but a moment to construct dozens of mitochondria power plants, build and transcribe a two to three foot (2 feet to 3 feet) long strand of DNA, and assemble all the ready made parts for another cell. Certain cells duplicate into eight new cells in less than an hour (1 x 2 = 2; 2 x 2 = 4; 4 x 2 = 8).

We know that TIME is the measurement of events both great and small. But, what is TIME? When my son was five, I recall his asking me, “Daddy, where does TIME go?”
